This calculator uses the standard, unweighted US 4.0 grading scale. (A+ = 4.0, A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C- = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, F = 0.0).
It works perfectly for both! College students can use their credit hours, while high school students can enter "1" or "0.5" for credits depending on their school's standard.
Generally, "Pass" grades do not affect your GPA mathematically—they earn you credits but no grade points. "Fail" grades, however, usually count as a 0.0 and will negatively impact your GPA. Check your specific institution's policy for exact rules.
